Whonnock Lake Portrait Session

Updated: Mar 31, 2019

I had always wanted to go to Whonnock Lake. I had heard of so many good things about this place, especially for portraits, so I asked my friend if she wanted to model for me. (I am so blessed to have so many lovely friends who are willing to model for me!) There was still snow on the ground, but the sun was out and I wanted to try out the Helios 44M 58mm f2 lens I had recently acquired. I was eager to see how it worked with the Lens Turbo II, an incredible device that allows me to adapt vintage lenses on my crop sensor Fujifilm XT1 so that it reduces the focal length to be close to its original focal length with an extra stop of light. The result would be a full frame look on a crop sensor. Super cool! Needless to say, the Helios + Lens Turbo II combo worked MAGICALLY. I love the swirly bokeh look it created and was so much fun to use with this photo session. Of course, I used the Fujinon 16mm f1.4 for those wider shots to capture the beautiful frozen lake.

Thank you, Megan, for being a champ in the cold and for being a beauty to photograph!
